Stowe is one of New England’s most sophisticated, year-round, international mountain resorts offering abundant recreational, cultural and dining activities.

Home to over 25 great restaurants, several spas, ski resorts, and dozens of annual cultural events. Stowe has no chain stores, no billboards, no overcommercialization and is one of the healthiest communities in America.

This retreat centers around the 34th annual 8-mile race, and 29th annual hot air balloon festival.

If you are planning to visit Stowe to run the Stowe 8-miler with your family, friends, or a running group, this retreat is a great way to experience Stowe and run the race.

Our Hosts

Conveniently located just 1/2-mile from downtown Stowe, the Golden Eagle Resort offers visitors an ideal location in the heart of it all. Walk to local restaurants and shops. Bike or run along the bike path. 

Multiple types of accommodations are available: rooms with patios, balconies, hot tubs, fireplaces, and mountain views, as well as cozy timber cabins with kitchenettes that can accommodate a family or a small group. 


All Packages Include:

  • Lodging for 2 nights
  • Dinner on Friday, Breakfast and Lunch on Saturday, Breakfast on Sunday
  • 3 yoga classes (1 class/day)
  • Running bio-mechanics clinic (if needed)
  • On-site transportation
  • Gondola SkyRide 
  • 1 Horseback riding session 
  • T-shirt

Not Included

  • Transportation to and from the retreat (NOTE: There will be a van leaving Boston on Friday morning for any participants coming from the Boston area)
  • Dinner on Saturday
  • Personal expenses for gifts, snacks, tea and coffee, wine, beer, soft drinks, and mineral water
  • Medical expenses in case of any emergency or injury

What to Bring (more detailed list after registration)

  • Trail running/hiking shoes
  • Yoga clothing
  • Water bottle
  • Sunscreen, sunglasses, and hat 
  • Insect repellant (ideally DEET-free to protect the environment; Blue Alpine is a great alternative)

General Day-to-Day Itinerary 2014 (detailed itinerary emailed after Registration)

Day 1 - Arrival (Friday, July 10)

  • Arrive at Golden Eagle Resort no later than 4:30pm

NOTE: There will be a van from Boston on Thursday morning at 10am for any participants from the Boston area. Amtrak goes to Burlington, 45 minutes away. It's possible to arrange a taxi pickup from Burlington. Participants may also choose to fly into Burlington International Airport

  • 5:00pm - Yoga
  • 6:30pm - Dinner

Day 2 - Adventure/Fun Day (Saturday, July 11)

  • 7:30am - optional trail run 
  • 8:30am - Yoga class
  • 9:30am - Breakfast 
  • 10:30 - 4:30pm - Free time to explore Stowe, horse-back ride, kayak, bike, etc. Transportation for group activities will be provided
  • 1pm - Lunch (on your own)
  • 5:00 - 6:30pm - the famous Stoweflake Hot Air Balloon Festival
  • 7:00pm - Dinner

Day 3 - Race Day (Sunday, July 12)   

  • 7:45am - Light snack 
  • 8:15am - Depart to the Start
  • 9:00am - Stowe 8 Miler Race  
  • 10:00-11:00am - Post-race party/snacks/optional massage
  • 11:00 - cold pool and waterfall visit
  • 12pm - 30-minute Yoga class (restorative) or Hot tub soak
  • 1pm - Lunch
  • 2pm - Farewells and departure
